Payout Percentages
Understanding Payout Percentages is your first
step in improving your game. As daunting as it may seem, it's not that hard. One
of the first things that you must keep in mind is that online casinos use a
computer program called a random number generator. Once you understand how this
works, it'll be easy to see how the payouts work. A random number generator or
RNG, randomly decides what hand or slots pull you'll receive. For instance, if
you are playing slots, you push the button to make your spin, the second you
push that button the RNG is set into action and determines the outcome of that
spin. The RNG has no memory of the last spin you made, and does not foresee the
next spin you make. This expels a lot of the myths surrounding a 'Hot Machine'
or a 'Cold Machine' for that fact. It is left up to the luck of the draw. This
insure complete fairness in games.
Now, there are games that payout
better than other games and it pays to know as much about the game you want to
play, before you deposit your money. In Video Poker for example, the best paying
machine is a 9/6 Full Pay machine as opposed to a 8/5 Pay machine. The 9/6
refers to the amount of coins paid out for a Full House ( 9 ) and a Flush ( 6 )
on the maximum bet allowed for a certain coin denomination. If you were to bet
$0.25 betting the max coins ( 5 )equaling $1.25 per hand and you hit a Full
House, your payoff would be 9 times 5 = 45 coins, for a total of $11.25. If you
were playing an 8/5 machine, you would collect less for the same
hand.
Finding the overall payout percentages for a group of games at a
given online casino should not be hard to do either, we have a some here
which are updated monthly. Reputable casinos are
audited on a monthly basis by a third party auditing company and the results are
posted on the casino website. These reports break down what the different game
types payout, and you'll notice that most online casinos have a higher overall
payout than most land based casinos do. To calculate the payout percentages,
this is normally done by comparing the winnings to the wagered amount for each
game at the casino. This is not to say that every game will payout these
percentages every time you play, it is an average. Sometimes it will be more,
sometimes it will be less.
