Scotty Nguyen
There is nothing bad that can be said about Scotty Nguyen
and his style of playing. Being one of
the most outspoken and emotional players in the game has served him well and he
enjoys the time that he has at the tables more than anyone. Known for his over the top style and penchant
for talking to the other players, Nguyen is best for his play and all around
sportsmanship in the game. He is the
proud owner of four World Series of Poker bracelets including the 1998 main
event. This is something that has worked
in his favor as there is little that he can not accomplish. He has gone head to head with some of the
best players in the business and is able to shrug off the big losses with ease
and one of his coined phrases. He is
easily one of the most popular players in the game and that is not just the
World Series of Poker either.
He also
holds a title for the World Poker Tour and twenty-seven money finishes in the
Series tournaments. This makes him one
of the highest paid poker players in history as well. There is no denying this mans humble
beginnings and his rapid ascent to the stardom that he now enjoys to the
fullest. He seems to thrive on the televised events and makes sure that he is
the center of attention in most cases.
He has found the way to work the tables to the best of his ability and
can easily throw off the concentration of the other players with his somewhat
aggressive style of play. He is known as
a master of the bluff and can also make you think that he is bluffing when he
is holding the right cards.
He
best known example of the reverse bluff came one the final hand of the 1998
World Series of Poker main event. Nguyen
was holding a high full house and opponent Kevin Mcbride was also sitting on a
full house. Nguyen had read the man
easily and knew the weakness. He
challenged Mcbride to call but warned him that he would lose if he did. Mcbride could not resist and he lost to
Nguyen.
Nguyen
was born on October 28 with no year revealed.
He is in his early forties according to himself but does not reveal his
true age to anyone at this point.
