Ted Forrest
Even though he has won a lot of it, Ted Forrest has little
regard for money and that is what makes him one of the most dangerous players
in the game today. Forrest began his
poker career in 1993 with a three bracelet win in the World Series of
Poker. Following those wins he left the
tournament circuit. He wanted to play
the cash games and he made a big name, and bank account for himself while doing
so. Forrest is regarded as one of the
best stud players that has ever lived.
This is a bone of contention for many people because he is not
considered to be a good Hold ‘Em player in the slightest but that is not the
truth by far. He managed to make the
switch to the more popular style of playing long enough to be a dominating
force in the games and knock out some of the best players to grace the
tables.
This has not made him any
friends to say the least and he has an overall disregard for the way that he
plays because he has no interest in the money overall. Forrest has been known to finance players for
the tournaments only to lose several thousand dollars and also taking part in
some of the most high stake proposition betting that has ever been seen. He was the driving force behind the Andy Beal
poker deal where the billionaire lost over sixteen million dollars to a group
of players.
Even
though he is regarded as a very weak Hold ‘Em player, he managed to beat
several of the best players in the National Heads Up Poker Championship
including Jesus Ferguson and Erik Seidel to win the five hundred thousand
dollar prize. This is the exact reason
why he is regarded in this manner, because he can hide in the best possible way
and then strike when the timing is right.
That is not something that a lot of players are able to do as they
prefer to show boat and try to knock the other players out of balance.
Forrest
was born on September 24, 1964 in New
York. At the
age of 42, Forrest still plays poker but just not very many tournaments because
he prefers the freedom that cash games give him as compared to the strict
guidelines of tournament play. He
resides full time in Las Vegas.
