Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson is the son of
one of the most legendary poker players in the world, Doyle Brunson. This is a fact but you will not find him
riding on the coat tails of his famous father as he has no need to do so. Brunson has shown that he can hold his own on
the poker tables and won a World Series of Poker bracelet as proof positive of
that fact. This made him and his father
the first father/son combination to ever win at the World Series of Poker and
that is a fact that he is also tremendously proud of. Besides being a popular poker player, Brunson
shares his father’s love of writing and contributed the seven card stud chapter
to the new Super System book that was recently released. Many people say that the father and son
Brunson team are nothing alike. They
certainly do have different playing styles as the elder is a bit more
aggressive out of the chute then his son.
Both are very patient players and masters of the bluff.
This combination makes them both deadly to
the other players. Todd Brunson has
often times been slated as a tremendous underdog in the tournaments that he
plays in but his ability to out last the great ones has earned him the nick
name Darkhorse. He wears this moniker
proudly as he is known to be one of the most staunch competitors in the game
today. While his first love is the seven
card stud style he is no slouch in the Hold ‘Em arena either and is a definite
adversary. He placed 13th in
the 1992 World Series of Poker main event and has taken twelve money finishes
with him as well.
Brunson
takes part in many of the televised poker tournaments, like the Super Stars of
Poker and he has had some pretty good showings to say the least. He has managed to knock out some of the best
players to win the money and is also a competitor in the Ultimate Poker
Challenge along side his famous father.
He had the honor of playing against Johnny Chan in the second season of
Poker Super Stars and will appear in the next season as well.
Todd
Brunson was born on August 7, 1969 in the native Texas where he and his father both hail
from. At 37 he plans to continue to play
tournament poker as well as take part in many cash games to further his bank
roll.
