Vince Van Patten
Vince Van Patten born October 17, 1957 is not a
professional poker player in the truest sense of the words, moreover he is
barely a poker player at all. He is
actually an actor with a penchant for the game and has lent his name to the growing
game in many forms. Patten began his
actin career at a very tender age and has never given up the life that comes
with it. He has starred in several of
the biggest hits in television history and also made a large number of
movies. His first major starring gig
came with the inception of The Bionic Boy, a spin off of the wildly popular Six
Million Dollar Man series starring Lee Majors. This show would not last long
and Patten would go on to other projects.
He has had many recurring roles in television and move parts and has
been a mainstay in the television commercial industry for many years.
Because the television roles as well as movie
parts became difficult to come by, Patten turned his attention to directing and
producing and has found wide spread success in both venues. He has attached himself to some of the
highest ranking television series in the world and has directed many feature
films to date. He owns two television
production companies that regularly develop new concepts for the television
industry. Patten says that being a
producer is far more rewarding than acting could have ever been as he maintains
a certain amount of creative control that is lost with the acting half of the
world. This form has also allowed him to
amass quite a large fortune which was not working in the acting realm.
Turning
his attention to poker was a big switch.
Patten is not a professional player and has never appeared in any of the
live tournaments but he does profess a love for the game like so many others. To this end he took on the position as the
commentator for the World Poker Tour which he shares with another television
celebrity. To this he has also added his
face to many of the online venues of poker playing and maintains quite the
presence around the rooms. He does now
play in the poker rooms as well but states that it is purely for the enjoyment
that he gets from the game as he has no intentions of leaving his current life
to pursue poker.
